How It Works

What happens when you ask a question: Islamic AI searches umma.ru, the Quran and Sunnah, gives a focused answer, and links to original sources.

Updated: September 3, 2026

Islamic AI isn’t an all-knowing chat. It’s an assistant that searches trusted materials for an answer and shows you where it came from. Here’s what happens after you ask a question.

Step by Step

  1. You ask in your own words — for example: “How do I make up missed fasts?”
  2. The assistant searches relevant passages in articles and books on umma.ru, the works of Shamil Alyautdinov, the Quran and Sunnah, and scholars’ fatwas.
  3. An answer takes shape: the key points, the steps to follow, important qualifications, and — when scholars hold differing views — the different positions.
  4. Source links appear: you can open the original source and read it in full.
  5. The conversation continues — ask follow-up or related questions, and the context is preserved.

How to Read an Answer

Start by looking at the sources beneath the answer — they’re the most important part. The assistant summarizes them in its own words, while the original source is more precise. Pay attention to qualifications such as “according to the majority of scholars” or “there is scholarly disagreement on this issue.” If an answer seems strange or overly definitive, check the linked sources.

How to Ask a Question for a More Precise Answer

  • Be specific: “praying on a train” is better than simply “prayer.”
  • Ask one question at a time.
  • Ask follow-up questions directly in the conversation — there’s no need to start over.
  • Any language is fine: the assistant replies in the same language you used.

What the Assistant Doesn’t Do

It does not issue fatwas and does not replace an imam or mufti. Personal, disputed, and legal matters — divorce, inheritance, health, and family conflicts — should be discussed with a qualified specialist. And remember that AI can make mistakes, especially with dates, numbers, and quotations: double-check anything important.

Cost and Data

On your first sign-in through umma id, you receive 50 UmmaCoins as a welcome gift. Each query costs 10 UmmaCoins, and one free question is available every 3 days. You sign in through an umma.ru account; your conversation history is stored to preserve context and is not shared with third parties for advertising.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the answers sometimes different when I ask the same question?
The assistant selects the materials and wording again each time, and follow-up details can change the answer. The sources beneath the answer are what matter: if they’re the same, the substance of the answer will be the same too.
Does the assistant remember what we discussed earlier?
Yes, within a single conversation, which is why follow-up questions work. Separate conversations are not connected.
What should I do if the assistant can’t find an answer?
Rephrase your question more specifically or break it into smaller parts. If there’s no relevant material on umma.ru, it’s best to ask an imam directly.
